I'm moved in. No one else is really home yet, but I'm there. The internet sucks, so I'm not online much yet. It will all be good in due time.

I don't feel like a real update right now. Sorry.

I'm baaaaaa-aaaaaack!!!!

Back in Madison. Started moving in yesterday, will finish up today. Parents go home tonight and then I'm FINALLY on my own again!!!

The house is fantastic. I hadn't seen it before yesterday, and was just going along with Andy and Adam's judgement, but now that I see it, it's really fantastic. The feel of it is not dissimilar to my parents' house. It's from about the same era, it has nice woodwork and good floors. It's really a house with character and I'm very very VERY happy with it. We have a real working fireplace in the living room, and my ceiling fan? Yep, it has a remote control. It's going to be a great place to live and work and socialize, I can't wait for roommates to get here. Most people's stuff is already moved in, and Ben and Schmidty are already living here, but just gone for the weekend. So last night and I think tonight, too, I have the place to myself. It's really nice to have the entire house, rather than just an apartment. I can't even express how excited I am for this year now.

Micah comes down on Tuesday, I'm super duper excited for that. Adam works through Saturday and then moves down here Sunday, probably. Andy is coming a week from Monday. With Ben and Schmidty already here, that just leaves James, and apparently he's coming just a few days before school starts. It's going to be a great house.

I can not even believe that work is over. I go back to school on SATURDAY. Unbefuckinglievable.

Can't even wait to move back. Words can't express how excited I am. Plus, I finally got ahold of sleazebag landlord (once I sicked my mother on them... long story. they're shady. hopefully there won't be much more dealing with them.)

My parents are going to the Twins game tomorrow. FRONT ROW SEATS. bastards. In honor of their absence, however, I offered for anyone from work who wants to (and also anyone on here who reads this and would be interested) to come watch in my basement (and maybe toss back a couple... if anyone over 21 is interested) either the twinkies, vikes, or a combination of the two. Plus, it's my last night in town, and I'd like to see people.

In other sad, sad, sad news: COLD STONE HAS DISCONTINUED THEIR CAKE BATTER ICE CREAM. Contrary to popular belief that they've just "run out" the last few times I've been there, someone at work today enlightened me that they actually discontinued it because it had raw eggs in it and some jackass sued them. Maybe it's just me, but I'd definitely be willing to risk salmonella for just one more heavenly scoop of Birthday Cake Remix. Just one little "Like It", not even necessarily a "Love It" or "Gotta Have It". I'm not being greedy here. *Drool*.

RIP, Cake Batter Ice Cream, RIP.

A guy is at the supermarket when he notices that the very attractive woman behind him has just raised her hand and smiled hello to him.

He is rather taken aback that such a looker would be waving to him, and although familiar, he can't place where he might know her from, so he says "Sorry, do you know me?"

She replies "I may be mistaken, but I think you might be the father of one of my children."

His mind shoots back to the one and only time he has been unfaithful.

"Christ!" he says, "Are you that strip -o-gram on my stag night that I screwed on the pool table in front of all my buddies while your friend whipped me with some wet celery?"

" No" she replies, "I'm your son's English teacher."

Roar. It's been a week.

Work's gone off without a hitch, which is lovely. Even though it's been a rainy week, everybody's laissez-faire attitude has allowed things to go extra smoothly. I'm finally convinced that Larry (the boss) doesn't hate me, he's just incredibly sexist and that makes it difficult for him to treat me the way he treats the other people on staff that he likes.

Adult classes are officially over, so I have 4 days of work left, none of which are the long 12+ hour days. thank god.

It's sad to see work coming to a close. I've literally spent at least 40 hours a week at that lake for the last 10 weeks. To think that I have 4 more days left is a rather somber thought.

Oh, I might mention that I've figured out what I'm going to do with my life. Minor news, I know. Here it is: I'm going to be a teacher. I've always wanted to, but up until now, when I've mentioned it to my parents, they've rolled their eyes and threatened to quit paying for my school. In lieu of last years events at school, I think they're finally realizing that by them dictating what track I have to take, they're not giving me a chance to succeed. So for now, I'm keeping this semester as-is, which is  a bit poli sci heavy, then when my GPA's high enough I'll transfer to UW's School of Education. I'm going to teach either 3rd grade or younger, or else high school. None of that 4th thgough 8th grade business. That's not for me. So cheers for a hopefully better school year.

I was going to be moving on Friday, but my parents announced yesterday that they have stuff to do on Saturday morning at home so we're not gonna be able to go till then.  I'm a little bummed, but honestly, I need the extra time. I'm nowhere NEAR ready to go, plus I still have to sort out business with the other landlord. Apparently Scotty's mom (not scotty...) has been able to get in touch with them. Since my mom believes that things are now my responsibility and my choices since I'm over 18, and she trusts me to handle things, I'm gonna have to deal with this and not just hand the problem over to her to deal with. So that's on the list for this week, on top of packing everything I own and getting all of my shit together.

I was at Micah's to watch the Vikings game last night. As I was leaving, he opened the front door for me and ran my foot over with the underside of the swinging door. The metal strip that runs along the bottom popped a 1/4 inch hole in the tip of my big toe that decided to bleed for, oh, about 45 minutes, soaking more kleenex than I care to count and bleeding through 4 bandaids. Gross shit. Then, on top of that, my parents had already told me that we wouldn't be leaving till the 20th, and my shithead brother doesn't know how to count and thus can't seem to remember where to park his car (It's REALLY not that difficult... he's just "special") and rather than telling him to move his car, my lazyass mother (whose spot he took in the first place) just took MINE (which was right next to it) instead of driving to the front and taking the boy wonder's place. So I got shafted with parking spaces for the umpteenth night in a row, and they got mad at me for getting mad about it.

Oh, and yesterday I was supposed to have a dentist appointment at 1:30 and a work bbq/volleyball game at the calhoun beaches at 12. I didn't want to have to leave early from the bbq, so I woke up around 9:30 and called my dentist to see if they had anything else. When I told them my name, the receptionist  goes, "oh my. umm..... uh oh. Well, about a month ago, we knew that we needed to close at 1:00 today. We called everyone with appointments that needed to be cancelled with enough time to reschedule them sometime in the next week. Umm... it says here that we left two messages with your brother on such-and-such days, did you not get those messages?"

As you can imagine, at this point I was about ready to wake his idiot ass up and pound the shit out of him. Somehow, however, I managed to keep my cool and ask her when I could reschedule for. She continued, "well, when we called last month we had plenty of openings, but now there's nothing until October."

Obviously, I'll be at school at that point, and that sucks. Damnit, Keith. So, on top of that, when I mention it to my mom and bitch about him, she get's MAD AT ME for not wanting to COME HOME FROM SCHOOL (i.e. drive 5 hours here, 5 hours back) in October for a FUCKING DENTIST APPOINTMENT. No  mention of keith being an irresponsible little shitface, just mad at me for being "lazy" and being irked about having to drive 5 fucking hours home and back for a stupid dentist appointment. Gee, can you tell who the favorite child might be?? This by far isn't the first time this summer that he's been an irresponsible ass, and everytime I say anything about it, I'm the one who gets yelled at. Oh yeah, that's fair.

I hate my family. Can't wait to get out of here.

I finished Odd Thomas, and also Harry Potter. As much as I don't like to admit it, Harry Potter was entertaining. I enjoyed it. I will read the next one. Now I'm tackling Howard Zinn. We had his book as a textbook my senior year of high school, and since I never worked my senior year, I never read it. Thus, I know nothing about US history, and Zinn's a good writer with interesting points of view, so I'm going to tackle his People's History of the United States. Excited.

That's quite enough writing for now. I'm getting carpal tunnel just thinking about how long I've been sitting here clicking at keys.
